I dont think he would call back to his name, but he may come..... He would likely land on someones head, and he prefers blonde headed women.

She was lost Thanksgiving day in Fair Oaks (near Hazel and Madison) but was flying very well so may have gotten pretty far. She is a blue front Amazon (mostly green with some blue and yellow on the head), and her name is Zena. She responds to whistles, her name (Zena baby bird), or pretty much any excited talking. She will "step up" and is especially cooperative if you will give her peanuts. There is also a reward- we want her back so bad!!!

I was in Millbrae today, when lo and behold above me I heard some odd
bird noises. It was a large green parrot (the species I couldn't
verify since I couldn't get a good look at it's face). I know if I
ever lost one of my birds, I would want to know every lead if there was a chance of getting them back, so I'm hoping this helps someone to find their missing bird.

Details:
Spotted in a tree between Starbucks and the Post Office on Broadway in
Millbrae. The closest cross street I believe is Taylor.

He was a large bird, probably the size of an amazon, but from what I could tell, he appeared solid green and I couldn't tell the color of his beak. The color may be off, though, since it was hard to pin point what kind of bird it could be.

He was seen between 4 and 5 (I didn't have the time on me).
He stayed there for quite a while before flying off, and I lost track of him.

Hopefully someone can make use of this. I called the humane society to see if there was any reports of missing birds, but there weren't any
that really fit my description. If you're looking for your bird, all the best to you, and I hope that you can find them.

He was taken by a white man in his mid-40s. He had dark brown hair and was approximately 5'10" and 180 lbs. He had an accomplice mid-30s brown hair approximately 6' tall 180 lbs wearing sunglasses and spoke with an accent.They left in a medium size red sports car. Gordo, a 30-year-old Guatemalan parrot (Amazona farinosa), rides his skateboard on Dalewood Street in Baldwin Park on Friday, March 6, 2009 during his daily walk with owner Fred Mireles, 37, of BALDWIN PARK - An exotic icon known throughout Baldwin Park as the skateboarding parrot has gone missing.

The bird-napping occurred about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday as Gordo - a green Malaysian parrot from Guatemala - played in his cage on the front porch of his owner's Bess Street home.

"My mother was at home and she heard somebody trying to break into the cage," said Fred Mireles. "When she went out there, the guy was already (running away)."

Gordo has become a popular city figure, said Mireles, who has had the 30-year-old parrot for about a decade.

Mireles would drive in his car with Gordo on his shoulder, take Gordo out mountain biking, and even made a mini-skateboard for Gordo. The two would take daily walks together.

"I'm 47 years old and I don't have a child," Mireles said. "(He) was like my kid. I'm devastated."

The incident was reported to Baldwin Park police, but officials say a case like this won't be easy to crack.

"Unless we have information or some kind of lead to follow up, it's extremely difficult," police Sgt. Darryl Kosaka said.

Animals are often stolen from their owners to become pets in other households, or to be sold, Kosaka said.

Gordo is worth $5,000 or more, Mireles said.

"But it's not about the money, it's just the companionship, " he said. "I almost died about two years back and he helped me."

Mireles said he was hit by a truck two years ago and part of his rehabilitation was exercise. That's when Mireles made Gordo the mini-skateboard.

"It pressed me to walk," Mireles said. "(Gordo) was my physical therapist."

Mireles said Gordo is an indoor parrot, who was only in his cage a few hours day, while Mireles went to school.

"Usually, I would keep him inside in my room, watching TV," he said. "He would tell me at 9:15 p.m. to turn of the lights."

Mireles said whoever stole his bird is likely going to get caught because Gordo is so well-known in the area.

He also said Gordo isn't used to strangers.

"They are up against a can of worms," Mireles said, "because once (Gordo) realizes he doesn't belong there, he's going to start biting."

6/9 LIVERMORE/ALTAMONT PASS Sighting of a Hyacinth Macaw? I believe my wife and I saw what we thought was a Hyancinth macaw flying with a Raven. The coloration was hard to see as it was flying overhead and we were driving up the Altimont pass from Livermore just past the Greenville offramp. The birds were flying from south to north and were high enough to be closer to the tops of the hills as the grade inclined. This was well before the next exit which as N. Flynn road. I turned the car around to see if it might have landed and after driving back and taking Greenville road exit we drove up the road along the freeway towards the dirt bike park and didnt see any large birds again. This was around 1:30pm. The direction they were flying would have take them towards Brushy Peak park which is accessible on a one lane road. Later in the day we drove up to that area to see if any birds were flying or landed and did not see anything or hear them this was around 7pm. I don't think we would mistake a blue and gold for a hyacinth but if it was a big one maybe, except for it looked dark from underneath which again matches more of a hyacinth color. I hope this is not giving you false hope, but maybe if you hear from someone that has lost another big parrot and they have not reported it then it might help them. Good luck on finding the bird.

He was like a child to me .Being under a lot of stress (my husband passed away a few months ago ) by accident I left the door of the of the cage open when it was outside in the garden . The guilt I feel is terrible . Usually, in the same circumstances, Bobby would have stay put , but it 's my guess a blue jay scarred him away.
