Free Basic Bird Education Classes - General Information
Everyone interested in fostering or adopting a bird must attend our class on bird care prior to receiving a bird from us. This class is free of charge (although donations are appreciated) and is open to the general bird-loving public.
The class covers these topics:
- Proper avian care
- Proper avian diet
- Symptoms of illness and first aid
- General husbandry
- Taming and training
And much much more...

We have basic bird care classes scheduled throughout the Bay Area in the North Bay, San Francisco/Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Sacramento Area. For those who cannot attend a class in person, we occasionally schedule phone classes.
Register: To reserve your spot for a class, email class@mickaboo.org with the location of the class, and class date, in the subject line. If you want to adopt a cockatiel, please say so in the email.

South Bay
The Sunnyvale class is regularly scheduled on the third Sunday of the month.; Individual classes are listed below. Seating is limited so, please bring a a folding chair, if you can. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE THIS MONTH!!!
Please do not bring your own birds to either of the South Bay classes.

East Bay
Berkeley
Classes in Berkeley are usually held the first Saturday of the month and will alternate with the Walnut Creek location teaching the Basic Bird Care class and advanced classes. The class is in the Meeting Room, in the back of the children's section of the library, which is to the 'back left' as you walk in the door.
There is both metered parking (some only one hour) and free 2-hour street parking. We will take two 15 minute breaks, during which time you can refill your meters or move your cars. The library is located a medium-to-long walk from the Ashby, Shattuck, and Rockridge BART stations and is also on several bus lines.

Walnut Creek
Classes are held in Walnut Creek the fourth Saturday of the month and sometimes alternate with the Berkeley location teaching the Basic Bird Care class and advanced classes. Please do not park in the Trader Joe's lot. There is parking on the street.

Criteria for attending a phone class:
- You must have submitted an application
- You must be live out of the area or be physically unable to attend a regularly scheduled class
