Anonymous says:Kim: Mickaboo will occasionally arrange Phone classes for people when distance is a factor, but you do need to come in person to pick up the bird you're interested in adopting (we don't ship birds!). I am not aware of any partner organizations in the southern CA area. |
Anonymous says:Someone should start a sister center. I also live in SoCal, in Kern county. |

Anonymous says:How do I tell Mickaboo I need a Phone class? I would like to adopt soon but I live in Bakersfield. |
Anonymous says:Ilive in Sacramento and am interested in adopting one of your macaws I'd like to attend your workshop here at Sylvan library on the 29th. Do I have to preregister? also my travel is limited how can I arrange pick up of bird when I adopt? please email me at asevenh@yahoo.com or telephone me at (916)451-3601 thankyou Richard Egan |
Anonymous says:To whom it may concern; Our male African Grey Parrot died recently. We are interested in adopting another male African Grey. Please let us know how we can start the adoption process. We also would like to attend the class in Sacramento on Oct. 21, 2007. Please reserve a place for my wife and me. Thanks, Richard & Maria |
Anonymous says:Hi, I work at a preschool and I was wondering if you have something to educate a very young crowd of 2-4 year olds? Small birds would be the best and it would, of course, be hands off! Feathers would be great as a "sharing" or "hands on" item to bring if the birds are molting? We can divide the children onto smaller groups if you prefer? Just a short "care and information" session? Best dates are on Mondays or Wednesdays. The school is in the Arden Fair area off Eastern near Arden. Thanks! Teresa |
Anonymous says:I live in Huntington Beach, California are you close? |
Anonymous says:I've been trying to send an email to both class@mickaboo.com and class@mickaboo.org to sign up for a class, but emails sent to either email get returned. What's up? |
Anonymous says:My family is very interested in adopting a parakeet, cockatiel, or lovebird. We were supposed to get a bird from a local shelter, but are adoption counselor was away and another counselor adopted the bird out to another party. We had almost given up until we found Mickaboo. Your website is very helpful. Is it possible to get the adoption fees that go along with either of the three birds? We have done a lot of research and have a cage ready to welcome a feathered friend to our home. Thanks so much, SMG |
Anonymous says:Hello I am intresting in adopting two female cockatiels. I currently have two males and would like to give them a companien. My question is what are the requiermemts you look for when you have at home visits? Also is the class a must do even though I have cocktiels? Thank You |

Nancy says:Hi there - We're mostly concerned with safety issues in the home--ceiling fans, unscreened doors and windows, toxic plants, that sort of thing. Yep, the class is a must do! We find that even people who have many years of experience with birds learn something new. Avian husbandry and avian medicine are changing very, very rapidly. --Nancy |
Anonymous says:My name is Andie Axlund. My husband Scott and I were a part of Mickaboo in 2001 and adopted our two little Cockatiels Frankie and Lily from Mickaboo. We have since moved to Hayden, Idaho and we are all doing great!! We live at the "tip" of a cul-de-sac and Frankie and Lily have a wonderful time watching the action of the kids playing and seasons changing. Although I think we are all a bit tired of the snow now. |
Anonymous says:DEAR NANCY My name is courtney and i talked with you before and i wanted to know how to schedule a phone class for april 16 (it would be eaiser if you called me sooner than the bird class becaused im still intested in your blue and gold macaw )and i live in las vegas so how can i get a home visit |

Anonymous says:Hello Mickaboo, I was interested in chewy the senegal and have read ALL the information on adopting a bird, and I was wondering if there is an age preferance for adopting a bird?? I am only sixteen but I have had a TON of experience with birds at the age of eight and was even employed at "FeatherFarm" for a few years and really have been searching for a bird (Senegal) that needs a desperate home. Please let me know of this concern of mine, thank you, Jose |

Anonymous says:Im interested in adopting a bird but there is not any sufficient information on adoption fees and etc. I want to know how much I would have to pay to adopt a macaw or a cockatoo. If you can please reply and give me a rough estimate of the fees associated with adopting a bird. |

Nancy says:Hi there--The easiest thing to do if you're interested in a particular bird or species is to email the coordinator for that species. You can do that using the link at the end of a bird's story. --Nancy |
Anonymous says:Hi, (I'm a different person) I tried doing that, but no one replied. Not even after a month. |

Matt says:Hi! Sometimes we get into a situation where we are moving between one coordinator and another. This doesn't happen often but we have had a few coordinators leave and be replaced lately. Please try again and comment back here if you still don't get a response after a day or two. We have made a lot of strides lately to try to keep peoples' emails from falling through the cracks but it does happen once in a while in our all-volunteer situation. |
Anonymous says:Hi there! I have a great home to offer a little feathered friend. Since I do not live in Northern California, I would like to schedule a phone class. I can be emailed at ironagemachines@yahoo.com Thank you! F. McCoy |
Anonymous says:Hi I also live in the southern california area , Huntington beach to be exact and wanted to adopt one of your macaws, after taking a phone class and submitting paperwork, say accepted, how long is the process of receiving the bird? |

I live in Irvine Ca very southern Ca area- do you have any sister centers here by any chance? I would love to take classes and be better equipped to care for my bird when I adopt. I was very interested in your guy Sweety with disfigured beak and only one little leg...but you are quite a distance from me and taking classes would be very hard for me to do at such a distance. Thanks for your response Kim Logan
